Provenance: The correspondence, newspaper clippings, and other biographical materials in this collection were donated by Samuel M. Pringle in 1997. The reports and gold pin from Pringle's time at Furman were donated by Mrs. C. P. Earle in 1968.

Abstract:Samuel McBride Pringle’s papers consist primarily of correspondence dated from 1859 to 1862 that Pringle sent to his family. There are other documents and materials relating to Pringle and his service during the Civil War. A photograph of Pringle is included, as well as three reports and certificates that relate to Pringle’s academic career at Furman University. A handwritten copy of a poem entitled “All Quiet Along the Potomac Tonight” by Thaddeus Oliver is also included in this collection.
