Provenance: This collection was donated in June, 2002 by Margaret R. Thomas, niece of Thomas Carlisle Herbert, and her daughter, Elizabeth Uhlman, after being collected and cared for by Anne Elizabeth Herbert, sister of Thomas Carlisle Herbert.

Abstract: Thomas Carlisle Herbert's papers consist primarily of correspondence and materials dating from 1894 to 1933. Most of the correspondence is dated from the late 1910s and contains letters between Carlisle Herbert and his mother while he was in the service, as well as many condolence letters to Carlisle's parents after his death. Other materials include photographs, official notices of Carlisle's service and death, maps of Europe and France, and other memorabilia.
Arrangement: Collection kept in original order created by donors with oversized items in Map Case Drawer 14.
