Provenance: This collection was donated in June of 2002 by Margaret R. Thomas, neice of Thomas Carlisle Herbert, and her daughter, Elizabeth Uhlman, after being collected and cared for by Anne Elizabeth Herbert, sister of Thomas Carlisle Herbert.

Abstract: Thomas Carlisle Herbert's papers consist primarily of correspondence and materials dating from 1894 to 1933. Most of the correspondence is dated from the late 1910s and contains letters from Carlisle Herbert to his mother and vice versa while he was in the service, as well as many condolence letters to Carlisle's parents after his death. Other materials included are photographs, official notices of Carlisle's service and death, maps of Europe and France, and other memorabilia.
Arrangement: Collection kept in original order created by donors with oversized items in separate box.
Scope and Content: Box 1 holds correspondence, photographs, and memorabilia. Box 2 holds oversized items.
