Abstract: The Patrick McGill Family Papers are a collection of 479 documents, mostly related to financial transactions, from the family of Patrick McGill, Sr. (1765-1848) and Patrick McGill, Jr. (1790-1862). Documents include information about slaves' housing, clothing, medical care, and sale; women's lives and occupations; and the operation of businesses and the legal system in nineteenth-century Maryland. Also includes research on the genealogy of the McGill family.
