Because the president has oversight of all university operations, the records cover a wide array of subjects related to Furman University and higher education in South Carolina, including issues related to curriculum; accreditation and academic standards; business and finance; academic governance; faculty and other university personnel; athletics; student affairs; affirmative action; social and cultural events; campus life; campus physical plant; national, state, and local professional educational societies and organizations; research.
