Provenance: Accession # 2005-039 was donated by Alester G. Furman III and his wife, Mary Simms Furman, on June 13, 2005. Accretion # 2008-085 was donated by Mary Simms Furman on August 28, 2008. Accretion # 2008-096 was donated by Felicia Furman, daughter of Alester G. Furman III and Mary Simms Furman, on November 13, 2008.

Abstract:This collection contains materials from the Alester G. Furman Co., Personal and Professional Correspondence and Materials, Amherst College materials, and Family Photographs. Accretion # 2008-085 contains Alester G. Furman III's letters to his family during World War II. The photographs in Accretion # 2008-096 consist mainly of the Furman and Earle Families, and there are several photos from the 19th century. Folder 1, Box 1 of Accretion # 2008-096 contains photos of Charles Manning Furman, Alester G. Furman, Sr., Alester G. Furman, Jr., and Alester G. Furman III together. There is also material from Alester G Furman III's involvement in the Greenville and Furman Communities and as part of Furman University's Board of Trustees.
