Well Versed: An Introduction to the South Carolina Poetry Archives
Display Case

Special Collections and Archives Exhibition
James B. Duke Library
2 April - 31 August 2007

In 2005, Special Collections and Archives at Furman University began to develop a new collection, the South Carolina Poetry Archives. Since that time, the Poetry Archives has grown to include published works of more than thirty authors and manuscript materials of nearly a dozen. In addition, the archives also includes cassettes, video tapes, CDs, and DVDs.

To highlight the array of materials and to commemorate National Poetry Month in April, Special Collections and Archives will host an exhibition entitled, "Well Versed." While this exhibition will feature traditional materials, such as books and manuscripts, Special Collections and Archives would like to accentuate the spoken word and the performance of poetry. There will be listening and viewing stations so that the audience can enjoy our collection in an unconventional way. Each week, we will provide a number of audio and video recordings for the audience to experience South Carolina poets and poetry.
