Abstract: The papers in the Edmund Botsford Family collection consist of the writings of Edmund Botsford (1745-1819), his daughter, Catherine “Caty” McIver Botsford Fort, and his son, Edmund Park Botsford. Edmund Botsford’s papers, which are contained in Series I-V, are a collection of letters he wrote to Richard Furman and other ministers, as well as essays, sermons, financial records, and allegories. Also included in his writings are manuscript copies of his book, A Spiritual Voyage. The papers of Caty Mclver Botsford Fort contain records of sermons heard, essays, financial records, and poetry. Edmund Park Botsford’s papers consist mainly of essays. This collection also contains a paper written by Andrew Lee Feight about Edmund Botsford’s influence on the early Baptist identity in the South. In Box 1 there is also a miscellaneous folder which contains Edmund Botsford’s tombstone inscription, a map of places in Georgia where Botsford preached, and other various items.
