The Santas for Sirrine Project

Since 1998, Furman University has partnered with the Upstate Urban League to provide support for Sirrine Elementary School. This support has taken many forms including education majors tutoring students and working with Sirrine teachers in the classroom, the donation of sixteen computers, and many volunteer hours in the Sirrine Library.

In 2000, with the encouragement from the leadership at Sirrine, representatives from the Michelin Corporation, the Urban League, and the Furman Library came together to begin the Santas for Sirrine Project.

What is the Santas for Sirrine Project?

The goal of Santas for Sirrine is to provide funding for Sirrine's library -- to assist them in the purchase of library books. In lieu of shopping for holiday gifts for friends, family, and business colleagues, the Santas for Sirrine Project encourages people to make a tax-deductible gift which will go toward the purchase of new books.
