Government Resources in the James B. Duke Library

Furman University participates in the Federal Depository LIbrary Program, allowing us to maintain a collection of thousands of books, pamphlets, maps and journals produced by the government. Every item is listed in ALCUIN and can be searched by title, author (agency that created it), subject, or keyword.

Documents are a great source of country information, statistics on population, crime, health, commerce and trade, law and legislation, domestic and international maps.

Location
The government documents are located on the North side of the 1st floor. Paper items are in compact shelving. Microforms and reader/printers are in black cabinets to the left of compact shelving. Many sources exist only on the internet and can be found by searching ALCUIN or using the Government Resources on the web, linked below.

Follows current bills through legislative process to becoming law. Bill summaries since 93rd Congress (1973-1974).

A portal to over 1500 federal databases. Links to historical and current documents.
CGP Logo
The CGP is the finding tool for federal publications that includes descriptive records for historical and current publications and provides direct links to those that are available online. .

Site for the U.S. business, economic and trade community, providing authoritative Federal government information. Ask for password at Reference Desk.

Furman has a small and heavily historical South Carolina Document Collection. Some highlights are:
