Sociological Abstracts Abstracts and indexes literature in the field of sociology, as well as related literature in the social and behavioral sciences. Drawing from over 1,700 serials publications, the database includes abstracts of journal articles and citations to book reviews. It also provides abstracts of books, book chapters, dissertations, and conference papers.

Social Sciences Full-Text

This source indexes about 400 English-language periodicals in a wide variety of subjects related to the Social Sciences including sociology, family studies, public administration, social work etc. Articles from about 100 of the journals indexed are available full text. Indexing goes back to 1983.

Annual Reviews

Online access to authoritative, analytic reviews published by Annual Reviews in 32 focused disciplines including Social Sciences going back to 1932.
African American Studies Center A comprehensive collection of scholarship focusing on the lives and events which have shaped African American and African history and culture. Includes 7,500 articles. The core content includes Africana, which presents an account of the African and African American experience in five volumes.
CQ Researcher Covers the most current and controversial issues of the day with complete summaries, insight into all sides of the issues, bibliographies and more.
Contemporary Women's Issues Provides full text access to global information on women. Journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies, along with fact sheets are easily accessible.
Population Index It indexes world population information found in books, periodicals, government publications, working papers, dissertations etc. The web version covers 1986 to the present. The library has the print version back to 1947.
ERIC Indexes over 800 education journals from around the world and over 450,000 ERIC documents. The most recent ERIC documents are available online; older documents are available on microfiche.
PsycINFO Citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, and technical reports, as well as citations to dissertations, all in the field of psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines. Journal coverage includes international material selected from more than 1,300 periodicals written in over 25 languages.
National Criminal Justice Reference/Abstracts
"NCJRS is a federally sponsored information clearinghouse for people around the country and the world involved with research, policy, and practice related to criminal and juvenile justice and drug control."
Refworks
RefWorks is a bibliographic management program that allows users to create personal databases and use them for a variety of research activities. References can be quickly and easily imported into RefWorks from text files or online databases. Users can automatically insert references from their database into their papers, generating formatted bibliographies and manuscripts. NOTE: RefWorks users are required to set up individual log-in names and passwords. Setting up your own log-in enables RefWorks to keep track of your personal database of citations and references.

Maintained by the Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy, FEDSTAT provides access to statistical information produced by over 70 agencies of the Federal Government. The site allows you to browse by subject, or do a key word search. The site also displays some of the statistical tables from the Statistical Abstracts of the U.S.

ICPSR Data Archive
Data sets configured for SPSS or SAS from the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research.
Census Bureau
This site provides web access to most of the data found in the 1990 census. It is searchable by keyword, or you can browse the subject listing. To find data on a state or county, click on "Access Tools" and then "Map Stats". Like most Government sites, this one can be slow to load.

This is one of many sites that attempts to organize sociological resources available on the Internet. The site is arranged in broad categories such as: "Demographics and Population Studies", "Migration and Ethnic Relations", "Culture", and "Human rights".
SocioWeb
Like the sociology virtual library mentioned above, SocioWeb attempts to be a guide to sociological information on the Internet. It organizes itself into broad categories such as "Sociology in Action", "Surveys and Statistics", and one called "Giants of Sociology" which provides links to sites about important individuals in the field of sociology.
