Social Sciences Full-Text

This source indexes about 400 English-language periodicals in a wide variety of subjects related to the Social Sciences including sociology, family studies, public administration, social work etc. Articles from about 100 of the journals indexed are available full text. Indexing goes back to 1983.
Sociological Abstracts Sociological Abstracts abstracts and indexes literature in the field of sociology, as well as related literature in the social and behavioral sciences. Drawing from over 1,700 serials publications, the database includes abstracts of journal articles and citations to book reviews. It also provides abstracts of books, book chapters, dissertations, and conference papers.
Contemporary Women's Issues Provides full text access to global information on women. Journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies, along with fact sheets are easily accessible.
FactSearch Database This source indexes statistical data on current social, economic, political, environmental and health issues. The data is gleaned from newspapers, magazines, journals and government publications. Web links to the full text is provided for some of the sources. The date range for Fact Search is 1984 to the present.
Population Index It indexes world population information found in books, periodicals, government publications, working papers, dissertations etc. The web version covers 1986 to the present. The library has the print version back to 1947.
National Criminal Justice Reference/Abstracts "NCJRS is a federally sponsored information clearinghouse for people around the country and the world involved with research, policy, and practice related to criminal and juvenile justice and drug control."

FED-STATS
Maintained by the Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy, FEDSTAT provides access to statistical information produced by over 70 agencies of the Federal Government. The site allows you to browse by subject, or do a key word search. The site also displays some of the statistical tables from the Statistical Abstracts of the U.S.

ICPSR Data Archive
Data sets configured for SPSS or SAS from the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research.
Census Bureau
This site provides web access to most of the data found in the 1990 census. It is searchable by keyword, or you can browse the subject listing. To find data on a state or county, click on "Access Tools" and then "Map Stats". Like most Government sites, this one can be slow to load.
