This work is not yet complete, but it is the standard reference work in Islamic studies. Bound volumes reach up to letter "S," Fascicles carry you further. The European transliteration of Arabic differs from the American system; most notable, "J" is "Dj; "Q" is "K" (with a "." below).

Qur'an Translations and Concordances
Numerous translations of the meaning of the Qur'an exist in the English language. Translations of major importance include the ones by Arberry, Pickthall, and Yusuf Ali. Arberry's and Yusuf Ali's translations can be found in the library. Some of these translations will include minimal commentary (tafsir) in the footnotes.

Qur'an Commentaries
The following works are abridged translations of classical Muslim commentaries. To date, the only lengthy commentary on the Qur'an in English is a sixteen volume modernist commentary by Maududi. Since it incorporates older tafsir material, it can be useful. Please see Dr. Teipen for access to that work.
