This resource was paid for by PASCAL, the consortium of 60 academic libraries across the state of South Carolina. PASCAL has experienced a severe cut in funding for the 2008-2009 budget year. State funding was reduced by 90% from $2 million to $200,000. As a result, PASCAL is no longer able to pay for LexisNexis. In lieu of LexisNexis, the Furman University Libraries have acquired WestLaw Campus Research, a similar database with a more user-friendly interface. It is very possible that additional databases will be cancelled as a result of the loss of funding. We urge you to let PASCAL and the South Carolina State Legislature know how PASCAL has helped you.
