Construction to be Completed this Summer

The expansion and renovation of the James B. Duke Library is scheduled for completion during summer 2004. The original library building and the main library entrance may reopen as early as June. By the beginning of fall term all library collections, services, and offices should be moved into their permanent locations. The dedication ceremony for the expanded building is scheduled for October 28. News, photos, and other information about current construction is available on the Construction Information page. Librarians Present at Information Fluency Workshop

Mary Fairbairn, Steve Richardson, and Laurel Whisler made presentations and poster sessions at the Associated Colleges of the South workshop on Evaluation and Assessment of Information Fluency in Atlanta on February 5-6. Dr. John Beckford from the Music Department co-presented with Laurel on their collaborative project.


Music Librarian Serves in Music Library Association

Laurel Whisler, Music Librarian, recently attended the Music Library Association's annual meeting in Arlington, VA. Laurel serves on the Personnel Subcommittee of the Administration Committee and on the ad hoc committee planning MLA's 75th Anniversary celebrations at the Memphis meeting in 2006. She has just been named Local Arrangements Committe fundraising chair for the Memphis meeting. MLA and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra have agreed to jointly commission a work in celebration of the 75th Anniversary.


CCLC Moves to Riley Hall

The Center for Collaborative Learning and Communication has temporarily moved to Riley Hall, where it will be located until June. The move will allow renovation of the space formerly occupied by the CCLC on the ground floor of the James B. Duke Library. The CCLC will be moving back to the library when its new space is completed this summer.
