Energy & Atmosphere

CFC Reduction in HVAC&R Equipment - All old heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment was removed from the original building. No CFC-refrigerant equipment is located in the renovated or new portion of the building. Cooling equipment is located in a recently constructed central campus cooling plant.

Optimized Energy Performance - The design energy costs are 30% lower than a base line design. Savings were achieved through reducing internal loads and gains through building shell and lighting improvements, and improved efficiency of the building HVAC systems.

Ozone Depletion - No base building HVAC and refrigeration equipment or fire suppression systems installed in the building contain HCFC's and Halon. Cooling equipment is located in a recently constructed campus central cooling plant and only water based fire protection systems are installed in this building.
