Building Reuse

At the west building façade, a portion of foundation wall and entire terrace were removed at the ground level and a window wall was removed on the main level to connect and transition the existing building and the new. The north and south basement walls were excavated with a minimum number of punched windows added to maintain structural integrity while providing daylight to classroom and offices now located in the lower level which was converted from storage space. Original brick veneer was maintained and new brick was installed at the exposed foundation walls. The original structure is concrete columns, beams, waffle and t-slabs. The interior was gutted except for two wood paneled conference rooms and a marble stair that connects three levels.
