As last-minute preparations were being made for the Library's 4:00pm re-opening on August 25, work continued throughout the new wing

Supports are installed on the concrete base to hold up the raised access flooring

Until the new public furniture arrives, existing furniture from the old building will be used

Shortly before the 4:00pm re-opening, the relocated Circulation Desk is ready to serve patrons

Beatrice Burton, a senior from Urbana, Illinois, is the first patron to enter the Charlie Peace Wing

Meanwhile, back in the old building, much of the collection is being brought down from the upper floors

Once the books are lowered on the giant forklift, they are then rolled off to their new destinations

The old staff elevator is also used to bring books down from the second and third floors

Most of the collection will remain on the upper and lower levels of the new wing even when old building has been completely renovated

The stacks on the main floor of the old building are quickly emptied as the collection makes its way to the new wing

Boxes are piled high in Cataloging as they prepare to move

Serials is also busy packing

Even though they will be one of the last departments to move, Special Collections gets an early start on their preparations

Cataloging Assistant Rick Jones takes a break from the action

Cataloging Assistant Janet Nazar and Acquisitions Assistant Linda Schinck discuss the progress of the Technical Services office move

Technical Services (Acquisitions, Cataloging, Collection Development, and Serials) moved into a large temporary office area on the south side of the upper level of the Peace Wing

Smith Dray brought a large crew this week that worked on both collection and office moves

With the new wing ready for occupancy, all the exterior windows have finally been installed

In the weeks to come, a number of finishing touches will be put on the exterior of the Peace Wing to make it much more aesthetically pleasing
