The Special Collections and Archives Department has six distinct sections:
the Furman University Archives, Manuscript Collection, Book Collections (Baptist, Furman and Special Collections),
the South Carolina Baptist Historical
Collection, the South Carolina Poetry Archives and Special Collections for Music.
Special Collections and Archives is located on the second floor of the James B. Duke Library.

This collection contains a variety of information on South Carolina Baptists,
including:
Church
records on microfilm
Furman University Archives
serves as the official repository for Furman
University records.
The Furman University Archives holds the permanently valuable records of Furman University (Board of Trustees, administrative records, academic departments, etc.)
as well as those of individuals, families, and organizations affiliated with Furman University. Also included are historical materials on Greenville Woman's College.
Records are held for many of the presidents who have guided Furman University. In addition, papers exist for faculty members and alumni/alumnae. There are over 5,000 images of the university and Greenville Woman's College.
The current holdings are organized with a record group taxonomy numbering 46 record groups.
South Carolina Poetry Archives
The South Carolina Poetry Archives at Furman University is a collection of published works, manuscripts, and ephemeral materials
from over seventy authors. Started in 2005, the archives highlights 20th and 21st century poets connected to South Carolina by birth,
employment, residence, or subject matter.
