The James Buchanan Duke Library serves as the main library for the Furman University community. Located at the center of campus, it houses a collection of over 400,000 volumes and provides access to a variety of information technologies. Most library services, such as circulation, reference, and interlibrary loan, are located on the first floor. It also houses the offices of library administration, archives and special collections, and other library departments. The Center for Collaborative Learning and Communication and the Office of Academic Assistance are also located in the building. The James B. Duke Library has recently been expanded and renovated. The project included the addition of the new Charlie Peace Wing and complete renovation of the original building. The library now includes the largest computer lab on campus, a 24 hour study area, over 25 group study rooms, and multimedia viewing and production areas. It also houses the university's Computing and Information Services Help Desk and department of Multimedia Services.
